805 Kickboxing was created by Mario Reyes and Daniel "DJ" Docto Jr. in Summer of 2019. What initially started out as just a few time slots at Santa Maria BJJ, has evolved over the last 5 years into one of the premier training centers for Muay Thai, kickboxing and "striking" on the Central Coast. We truly believe this is because of our proven system and curriculum that specializes in "beginners" and evolves whether you are training for life or for competition.

The heart of our purpose as coaches / owners is to teach students not just in Muay Thai, but also in life. We remember being lost at times in our lives and having martial arts & sports helps us. The family culture we have in our gym starts with our heart for the community and is our "why"! We are very active in our community! We sponsor Nipomo Little League, Nipomo Football and Guadalupe Football (youth leagues) as well as many other local events that happen in our small town. You will definitely see our signature "805" logo in fields locally and around the country on our fighters' shorts, shirts and our cornerman vests!

Our stable of fighters (under Head Coach Mario Reyes) have established a reputation as one of the most active fight teams in California by competing all over the country in Muay Thai and MMA. We have a strong group of teens and adults that are just starting to compete and get active on the fight scene. We also have a solid core of amateur and professional fighters including Jesse Lara (Current Uriah Faber's A1 Muay Thai Amateur Champion at 122lbs & 125lbs and Rising Stars Muay Thai 122lbs Champion, Justin Souk (2022 IKF West Coast Classic Novice Division Champion & Current Rising Stars Muay Thai 126lbs Champion), and Joe Palacios (Professional MMA fighter for 559 Fights & Valley Fight Series). One of the biggest difference in our fighters is that each one of them has their own style and strengths. We don't train people "one way" or a certain style, we train them according to their strengths while improving their weaknesses. It has helped us constantly gain opportunities for our fighters stay active and ready with some fighting as much as 5+ times a year.

Moving forward into the future with a brand new gym, 805 Kickboxing is constantly pushing the boundaries in Muay Thai and MMA while representing the 805 & Central Coast. With our signature logo that pays homage to Tap Out and the 805, we have made fans all the way up North in Sacramento to down south in LA as well as across the country. We rarely fight locally, but we always try to win the heart of the crowd no matter where we fight.

As of June 2024, both Mario and DJ are certified as "Khru" under Khru "Doc" Daniel Docto Sr. and his Muay Thai Missions curriculum & certification. We also have several instructors that are certified under Khru Doc with plans to continue the lineage and legacy that was started over 30+ years ago. Khru Doc plans on visiting and teaching at 805 Kickboxing 2x/year to continue to support and strengthen the lineage and knowledge of our gym.

Khru Doc is one of the "OG"s of American Muay Thai, having owned one of the first Muay Thai gyms in the SF Bay Area back in the 1990s - Concord Kickboxing Club. Khru Doc then moved to Thailand for over 15+ years where he worked for Mr. Wong at Fairtex Pattaya, started Muay Thai Missions and eventually settled in Ao Nong Krabi in the South of Thailand. Khru Doc is certified under Khru Vut Kamnark and the United World Muay Thai Association (UWMTA), the Khru Association and the Muay Thai College in Bangkok, Thailand under Ajahn Dej. 805 Kickboxing's Co-owner / Coach DJ is Khru Doc's son and is certified under Khru Vut Kamnark and the UWMTA as well.
